June 1, 2023

Dear Families,

It’s hard to believe the end of the year has arrived! We will be mailing the fourth quarter report cards along with the end-year iReady reading and math assessment reports, the 2023-2024 calendar, and school supply lists for the next year to all families. Class placements for the 2023-2024 school year will be noted in the comments section of the final report card. In the fall, Oregon Statewide Assessment System (OSAS) reports will be sent home with fourth through sixth grade students. This assessment was given in the spring of 2023 to students in grades three through six.

Library Books

All library books are due Friday, June 2.  Library notices will be sent home with students indicating all items not yet returned.  Please return all library books no later than the last day of school, June 15.

Lost and Found

The lost and found at HPE is overflowing! Items will be outside the main entrance Wednesday, June 7 and Wednesday, June 14, from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Please stop by to peruse the lost and found rack and claim any missing items.  Items are added to the rack daily.  Items not claimed at the end of the school year will be donated.

Kindercamp

Hudson Park Elementary is dedicated to providing support to children and families in order to ease the transition to kindergarten. We will be hosting a free, 8-session Kindercamp August 7-10 and 14-17 for students transitioning to kindergarten in the fall of 2023.  Only students enrolled in kindergarten at Hudson Park Elementary for the 2023-2024 school year will be eligible to register for Kindercamp.  Click here for more information and to register your student for Kindercamp.  Registration by June 30th is recommended to ensure a space in the Kindercamp program.

To enroll in kindergarten for the 2023-2024 school year, students must be 5 on or before September 1, 2023.  Any kindergarten age-eligible student currently enrolled in Rainier Preschool or Head Start has been automatically enrolled for kindergarten for next school year.  Some additional information may be needed for these students.  Any kindergarten age-eligible student new to Rainier School District will need to register online in order to enroll in kindergarten.

Summer School

Plans are in process for summer school August 2023 for students in grades 1-12.  Information will be shared with all families soon.

Summer Slide

To avoid losing achievement gains made in the previous school year, also known as the “summer slide,” it is important for students to stay engaged in reading and learning over the summer.  Start with a Book is a website offering a one-stop shop for book ideas and other learning resources for a summer of reading and active learning.

Briarcliff Pool

The last week of HPE swim lessons will be next week, June 6-8.  There will not be swim lessons planned the last week of school (the week of June 12).

The yearly pool fee during the 2022-2023 school year is $10.00 for one student or $25.00 per family for those students participating in swim lessons.  If you haven’t already done so, please send your payment to the Hudson Park Elementary office before the last day of school, June 15.
